Ring Size Guide

How to find your ring size:

Whether you’re choosing an engagement ring, a wedding ring or eternity ring, we at Phillips Jewellers understand that finding the right size is very important. When you visit our store our friendly, professional team can do this for you accurately and quickly.
If you are planning a surprise ring for a loved one or you want to choose a new ring for yourself you can also do this from the comfort of your home. To make your on-line shopping experience as easy as possible we have created this simple guide for finding your ring size.

Consider the following before you start:

• Avoid measuring your finger when you’re cold, as cold fingers tend to be a half size smaller.
• If you are considering a ring with a thick band the fit tends to be tighter which means you may need to go for a size up.
• The best time of day to measure your finger is in the evening as your fingers are largest at this time.
• If you are buying a ring as a surprise for a loved one, try to borrow one of their rings, preferably one with a similar width and style, and use it as a guide for measuring the inner diameter as per the instructions below.

Finding your ring size:

There are two easy ways to find your ring size, one measures the inner diameter of the ring and the other measures the inner circumference of the ring. All you need to get started are a pen, some paper, a ruler that can measure millimetres (mm) and scissors. Once you have your measurement, use the chart provided to work out the ring size.

Option 1 - Finding the Inner Diameter Measurement

• Draw a straight line on a piece of paper.
• Place a ring that fits the finger you want to size on top of the line, with the line running across the centre (i.e. the widest part) of the ring.
• Mark the line at the inside points of where the ring meets it.
• Measure the distance (in mm) between the two points along the line.
• Refer to chart provided below to get your correct ring size according to the diameter measurement.

Option 2 – Finding the Inner Circumference Measurement

• Cut a thin strip of paper.
• Wrap it around the base of the appropriate finger.
• Make sure the paper fits snugly. You should be able to slip it over your knuckle.
• Using a pen, mark the paper where it meets the starting point.
• Using a ruler, measure (in mm) the length of paper between these two points
• Refer to chart provided below to get your correct ring size according to the circumference measurement.
